Homeschool Math Curriculum -
How to Choose the Right Curriculum

So many choices! How do you know which homeschool math curriculum will give your child a strong foundation in math?

Every program claims it's the key to your child's success.

But is it really?

Knowing the right math program is as easy as knowing your child. Choose a homeschool math curriculum based on your child's learning style. The results are amazing!

My oldest struggled with math. "Mom, I don't need to learn math anymore. I know all I need to know." That was first grade. After I matched the math curriculum with her learning style she went from missing 50% of the problems to missing only 1 or 2.

Learning styles are powerful!

Find out your child's learning style then,

Inventing

Inventing learners prefer plenty of time to question and experiment to discover the solution. Memorizing rules and formulas is tedious and does not tap into their intellect. Computation should be the bi-product of learning to think mathematically with the focus being on concepts and theories.

Open-ended activities from Family Math and Family Math For Middle School are better alternatives, or at least supplements, to a traditional text and workbook approach for math. Inventing children are challenged by solving problems so a step-by-step-here’s-how-to-do-it text is leaving a lot of their intellect and potential on the table and can create a hate-of-learning.

Family Math
"A guide for parents and children to work together, not on passive tasks of rote learning, but in active game play, solving problems, experimenting and even discovering." Review on Amazon.com
